BIG MATCH BUILD-UP: JDV - Dons Are On Code Red

ABERDEEN'S players are on "code red" for Sunday's huge cup clash with Celtic at Pittodrie.

So says Dutch winger Jeffrey de Visscher, who believes Aberdeen's season hangs on the outcome of Sunday's vital quarter-final fixture.

The Dons players are focussed on the task ahead of them, aided by the decision to refuse interviews with a local newspaper's odious sports reporters.

This immediately led to a strong showing against Rangers at Ibrox, despite a 3-1 defeat. The Dons have also performed well in recent games with Hibs and Motherwell but still failed to secure a win.

But de Visscher knows there can be no excuses or hard-luck stories after Sunday's make-or-break clash.

He said: "Maybe the excitement of these big matches raises some players' games.

"We have to win all the games we have left to make the top six and the season is code red for us now.

"Celtic will be a different game. We know we can perform in big games but we lost 5-1 in the last match.

"We hope to surprise them next week, though, and go through to the last four of the Scottish Cup."

Ibrox goalscorer Steve Lovell is out of the Celtic tie, but Jamie Smith may be fit again to replace the fiery forward.

THE OFFICIAL AFC website has announced that tickets for the Scottish Cup Quarter Final clash with Celtic are now on general sale, at normal SPL prices.

Those wishing to purchase tickets for the game must have a previous booking history with AFC.
