SCOTLAND Under-21 striker Chris Maguire admits he still laughs when he recalls his crucial winner against Austria at Pittodrie last month.
Marko Arnautovic gave the visitors the lead after 10 minutes but Barry Bannan levelled 19 minutes later before Maguire's long-range drive with a minute left sparked wild celebrations as Billy Stark's side reached the European Championship play-offs.
Scotland now face Iceland in a two-legged play-off for the chance to get to the finals in Denmark in the summer.
Ahead of the trip to Reykjavik for the first game on Thursday, the Dons striker, named Clydesdale Bank young player of the month for September, said: "I've watched the goal a couple of times but each time I do I just burst out laughing. It still doesn't seem real.
"Even in the celebrations afterwards I was laughing.
"It's the first time I've been struck by what to do when I had to celebrate, I didn't know what to do.
"All the boys were chasing but I was oblivious to everything.
"But for the goal to get us into the draw it was pretty special. It would be massive to qualify," Maguire added.
"Everyone wants to be there and what an achievement it would be.
"Anyone who has watched us over this campaign knows than even when we go a goal down we've still got the commitment to push on and get an equaliser or go on to win the game as we did at Pittodrie."
Maguire put his award down to playing regular football under Dons boss Mark McGhee.
He said: "This has been the best spell of my career so far.
"It's not very often you get things like that happening in the one month, you're lucky if you get it over a season.
"I was privileged to get that goal against Austria and I've then picked up this award.
"But I know I've still got a lot to do, I've got to keep working hard and hopefully there is more to come.
"I'm now playing regularly with Aberdeen and that's helped me.
"I think I've played more games this season than I did all of last season at Aberdeen.
"The gaffer has given me more of a chance and I've taken it with both hands."
