DONS LEGEND and Director of Football Willie Miller has begged furious Aberdeen fans to back the club's bid to qualify for Europe.

Former captain and manager Miller made his plea in an open letter to the Red Army through a local newspaper.

In the letter, Miller admits that the fans are right to be angry at the way they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Dunfermline.

Details of the open letter have been published on Aberdeen FC's official website RedWeb's 'news from the papers' section.

Miller provides a summary of the work done over the last five years, and gives details of how the club performed in the five years prior to that to help fans fully understand what has happened at Pittodrie since 2004.

The former includes the ground-up revamp of the club's failing youth system and the creation of the Dons Youth Academy, as well as qualification for Europe and participation in European competition after Christmas for the first time in three decades.

Miller also explains why it is vital that fans stick together at this crucial stage of the campaign, with further European qualification still a possibility, to help continue the recovery of the club from the lows of the turn of the millenium.

Whether or not the club legend's explanation cuts the mustard with the angry Dons fans, Aberdeen-Mad agrees that the support should back the Dons in their push for Europe but that the club must seriously review the managerial situation in the summer.
