THE FEASIBILITY study that identified Loirston Loch as the preferred site for a new community stadium has been backed by the local authority - although a final decision on the scheme is not expected until next month.
Aberdeen City Council's Policy and Strategy Committee voted in favour of the report's conclusion that the Loirston Loch presents the most deliverable option for the stadium, which will be the new home of Aberdeen FC.
However, the study - which also considered the feasibility of a site at King's Links - has now been referred to a meeting of the full council on May 20th to determine whether the project can progress.
According to the study, the Loirston Loch proposals also raise the possibility of including facilities for Cove Rangers and the local community, while also acting as a catalyst for further development.
The study was carried out by a team of consultants led by Gardiner and Theobold, including London-based PMP Consultancy.
