Hayes came off the pitch midway through the first half of Monday's defeat to Inverness with what looked like a hamstring problem.
A local newspaper is reporting that this has been confirmed as a hamstring tear and Hayes will miss the next four Dons games.
The flying winger, who has been instrumental in Aberdeen's title charge this season, will miss tomorrow’s trip to Firhill and the following matches against St Johnstone, Dundee United and Kilmarnock.
The news comes will come as a blow to manager Derek McInnes, who couldn't possibly have failed to notice how the team's attack was blunted after Hayes' substitution on Monday.
The gaffer will now have to come up with an alternative to Hayes' direct running, and hope that the recently underperforming Niall McGinn steps up to the plate in the Dubliner's absence.
