One of my New Year resolutions was to be nicer to Jimmy Calderwood.
Which is a good job, because normally the weekend's result would have sparked a spleenetic rant about losing twice to a pub team (complete with overweight shaven headed central defenders and replica Argentina tops) being completely unacceptable, even with a 'flu bug and Hamilton's incredible shrinking pitch.
But like most of my fellow Reds it was met with a sanguine shrug and an 'och well'.
This was probably because, for all the Dons many shortcomings, they did end up with 30 points at half way and a similar second half should see us in Europe next year, so we can afford one or two bad days at the office like Saturday's.
We will, however, be far less understanding if we return from Alloa on Saturday with anything less than a victory. We don't tend to lose cup games under Calderwood - we get humiliated and/or annihilated in them.
So while it's hard to see the Wasps doing either, if he does lose for a third time to a lower league side, Calderwood should get on the phone to the FBI to see if there are any spaces in their Witness Protection Programme as there will be over 10,000 Dons who want to make him sleep with the fishes.
