Jimmy Calderwood - record breaker. First manager to take the Dons into Europe since 2002. First third place in the league since 1996. Furthest in Europe since 1986.
But then there's the other records. First defeat to Queens Park in over 50 years. First defeat to Hamilton in 77 years. First defeat to Caley Thistle...ever.
Calderwood has provided us with such a range of results from humiliation to glorious achievement (although not a trophy) that it is impossible for fans expectations to be unrealistic. All we expect is something within that range - some hope to get into Europe and make a decent fist of it, some stay at home on a Saturday expecting the team to get beaten by the club at the bottom of the table.
Yet week after week Calderwood claims our expectations are unreasonable; this week after the team were booed off following a pitiful display against Hamilton at home.
It's time to nail this unrealistic expectations nonsense once and for all. Aberdeen fans do not expect to win the league. We do not expect to win cups. We do not, currently, expect to challenge the Old Firm for a top-two slot.
We do not even expect to beat Hamilton Jimmy, but we think that they should be made to work for it.
