One Game at a Time
A lingering 'flu bug, an artificial pitch and a Biblical downpour meant we laboured while disposing of Alloa, but if we reach Hampden in May who'll remember that... or for that matter care? With Jimmy Calderwood hinting he'll walk off into the sunset if we win it, the cup has suddenly become even more attractive for a section of our support.
The draw has been kind to us with East Fife at home, and normally I'd be convinced that we're already in the quarter-finals but given our recent cup pedigree and the fact three of our last four meetings with the Fifers have gone to a replays, we'll take it the cliched 'one game at a time'.
By the time you read this we'll have won/lost/drawn at Kilmarnock and all Red eyes will turn to the main course in January - the Pittodrie double-header with the Old Firm.
Ideally we'll take something from both games, but contrary to what they believe in Govan, if I had to choose one game to win it would be the Celtic one.
It's now just a little over seven years since the Section Y Snowball Bombadiers made Stilian Petrov cry like a girl and we last beat Celtic at Pittodrie, which is, quite frankly, a bit embarrassing.
So I confidently predict that the Roley Poley Goalie will have another 'mare and El Mackigol will bag four a la Frank MacDougall and send the Jungle Jims homeward tae think again, but then again maybe it's time I stopped drinking at work.
