ABERDEEN

The quality of SPL football gets frequently attacked from many angles, most obviously the Old Firm (the original evil twins, well before Jedward's appearance) with their cowardly attempts at retreat from their home league, but also previously by our former captain Scott Severin - hope you're enjoying mid-Championship bench-warming in front of Pittodrie-sized crowds at Watford, Seve.

However, Saturday's 2-1 win over St. Johnstone was an excellent game between two sides hell-bent on victory, leading to an open match with no shortage of skill mixed in with passion, blood-n-thunder and backs-to-the-wall tension in the closing stages. It was a great example of the best of Scottish football that helps to belie the supposed discontent of those desperate to leave Scotland's top division and instead exposes their real motivation: greed.
