ABERDEEN
On/off, on/off, will he/won't he ... as Miller departed for Boro and Maguire for Killie, Jim Paterson and Steven MacLean squeezed through the transfer window just before it was bolted shut. A new striker always brings fresh hope and MacLean, misfiring at Plymouth, could yet find his level to become Aberdeen's first prolific goal-getter in eons.
He was reputedly also a target for Hearts - before Jim Jefferies' shock return. Cuffing the Jambos has been an AFC habit of late. Last midweek's Tynecastle trip was glorious as we routed moaning Michael Stewart's men for the second time in January, becoming the fly in Csaba Laszlo's SPL ointment. Cheerio.
