ABERDEEN
It doesn’t seem to matter who is the Dons manager, we Dons fans are destined to receive Scottish Cup torture this century. Last year, Mark McGhee’s Dons snatched a last-gasp equaliser at Stark’s Park, making us dare to believe that the Calderwood years of cup shame were over, only to meekly collapse in the replay.
A sense of déjà vu has descended since Craig Brown’s AFC completed a carbon-copy comeback at St Mirren’s generic flat-pack stadium on Saturday; let’s hope the joy this time is longer-lived.
For those aged 35-plus in our support, at least we have the feeling that the last couple of dire decades is payback for witnessing the four cup wins in five years between 1982 and 1986. For younger Reds, they must feel like they’ve done something grievous in a previous life. Please make it stop!
