DYRON DAAL, the Dons' striker signed on amateur terms last month, scored the only goal of the game as the reserves beat St. Mirren at Links Park.

Daal fired home the winner just before half time to give the very inexperienced side all three points and retain their unbeaten SPL Reserve League record this season.

Kyle Macaulay impressed during the game, in particular when he skinned three defenders before seeing ha shot saved midway through the second half, and getting stuck in enough to earn a yellow card.

The only other incident of note came when referee Waters was forced to leave the field of play with an injury to be replaced by Morag Pirie, the official whose bizarre decisions cost the Dons U19 team a place in the Youth Cup final last season.

Aberdeen: Soutar, McVitie, D. Smith, Donald, Skinner, Thomas, Macaulay, Winter, Daal, Dempsey (Neill 63), Kiely (Paton 78).
Subs not used: Kelly, S. Smith, Haswell.
