ABERDEEN can rightly lay claim to providing the backbone of the current Scotland Under-17 squad.
Five Dons kids — Fraser Fyvie, Nicky Low, Ryan Jack, Callum McRobbie, Mitchel Megginson - will join up with the international squad for the UEFA European U-17 Championship Group 5, Elite Round in March.
The Scots will face Georgia at Bad Waltersdorf on March 20th, Italy at Stegersbach, Austria on the 22nd, and Austria, again at Stegersbach, on March 25th.
Meanwhile, Dons youngsters Jack Grimmer and Stephen O'Neill will be involved in the Scotland squad for the upcoming International Under-15 Challenge Matches against Belgium.
The games will be played in Belgium on March 31st and April 2nd this year.
This is yet more proof of the positive effect of the changes brought into AFC's youth set-up by Willie Miller.
Miller instigated the creation of the Aberdeen Football Club Youth Academy in June 2006, bringing in Head of Youth Development Lenny Taylor and clearing out the dead wood at the club.
