Scottie Severin has been rewarded for his excellent form this season by being called up to the Scotland squad for their crunch game against Moldova on Wednesday night. The Dons midfielder was called up by Berti Vogts along with Wigan's Lee McCulloch on Monday. While it is unlikely he will play (although it could be argued he would be far more effective than Gary Holt has been), it is a boost for the tough midfielder that will hopefully keep his spirits and quality of play for the Dons up.
Meanwhile, Sev's captain at Pittodrie, Russell Anderson, awaits a late fitness test on the ankle he damaged in his man-of-the-match performance on Saturday in the unlucky defeat against Norway.
We will all be hoping that Scotland's likely front pairing tonight, Steven Thompson and Stevie Crawford, don't do anything as moronically stupid as their predecessors in that position have tended to do in recent fixtures, and indeed can find the net a few times as well.

Last night, another two AFC players were involved in the Scotland U21s 0-0 draw with their Moldovan counterparts. Ricky Foster and Scott Morrison both started for the young Scots despite hardly being regulars at Pittodrie this season. While they failed to provide the spark to ignite the U21s, it is good to see the Dons beginning to churn out youngsters that catch the eye of the Scotland management team again.
How long they stay the Scotland management team, however, has a lot to do with tonight's performance.
