DONS boss Jimmy Calderwood has insisted there is no pressure on him to sell top players during the January transfer window.
Captain Scott Severin, top scorer Darren Mackie, Copenhagen Hero Jamie Smith, tricky Dutch winger Jeffrey de Visscher, solid defender Lee Mair and... er... Derek Young are all out of contract next summer, and can speak to other clubs from next week.
The situation mirrors last season, when "Traitors' Tuesday" contract rebels Michael Hart and Chris Clark were sold in January to ensure the Dons received some cash rather than letting them go for free in the summer.
But this time round, Calderwood says he could keep all six players until the summer even if they choose not to accept new deals.
And the gaffer also has plans in place should any of the six decide to leave the club.
He said: "The way the club has organised the finances means we can sustain what has been planned for at least the next two years.
"That doesn't mean we won't sell any players. If a big club came in with a silly offer we'd have to consider it, just like every other side in this country. But I'm under no pressure to sell which makes a huge difference.
"My priority is to make sure there is a squad good enough to sustain a challenge for the European places and hopefully everything will be sorted out very soon.
"Everything we do next month hinges on what those six decide to do.
"That's why we haven't really made firm plans to sign anyone at the moment. We've identified possible targets but it's been more a case of doing our homework in case we have to move quickly next month."
