Miller To Lee-ve?

REPORTS over the weekend claim that Middlesbrough are considering making a bid for Dons striker Lee Miller.

'Boro chief scout Gordon McQueen was at Pittodrie on Saturday to watch Miller, and it is believed that the Championship club is poised to make a £700,000 offer.

Aberdeen captain Scott Severin left in the summer to join Chris Clark, Barry Nicholson and Michael Hart as Dons departees in the cash-rich Championship.

Moreover, Dons targets Stephen Hughes and Reda Johnson also chose the English lower-leagues instead of the challenge of the SPL.

And now 26-year-old target man Miller could be set to join them down South.

Miller is in the final year of his contract at Pittodrie, and as with Russell Anderson, Hart and Clark, the Dons may be wise to cash in rather than allow the player to leave for free.

The addition of around half a million pounds to the transfer kitty and top-earner wages freed up would also allow for new manager McGhee to mould his own team.

But Miller was a talismanic figure during Aberdeen's European campaign in 2007/08, and was influential in the Dons' charge to the SPL's third place the season previous to that.

A terrific spell last season earned him a Clydesdale Bank Player of the Month award and a call-up to the Scotland squad.

His lack of goals has been a constant worry however, and McGhee may prefer to find a more traditional poacher in line with his attacking philosophy to replace Miller's back-to-goal style.
