DONS target David McNamee will not be Jimmy Calderwood's second full back signing this week.
The experienced Coventry City full back was released at the start of the week and Aberdeen boss Calderwood hoped add the player to his squad before next week's pre-season trip to Holland.
However it is reported this morning that McNamee will join up with former Dons player Chris Clark at Plymouth Argyle instead, signing a two-year deal with the Championship club.
With Charlie Mulgrew joining the Red Revolution yesterday, Calderwood's full back search moves to the right-hand flank where McNamee was deployed for his sixteen appearances with the Sky Blues.
The player also fitted the JC brief by spending the majority of his career on the treatment table.
Calderwood now looks to have reopened the door for Alan Maybury, despite turning his back on him last week.
The Dons gaffer seems to have done a u-turn and now appears to be willing to wait the two weeks to sign Maybury.
He said: "I've spoken to Alan and he hasn't closed the door. His contract with Leicester doesn't expire until July 31st, which is strange.
"But you can understand Alan not wishing to sort anything out until after the contract has expired because it is worth a lot of money.
"We're staying in contact with Alan and if we don't have anything else sorted by the time he is available, we could sort something out."
