DONS boss Mark McGhee has restated his interest in Plymouth Argyle pair Steve MacLean and Jim Paterson.
McGhee was keen on signing MacLean and Paterson during the summer but the club was not prepared to pay wages quoted as £5000 and £3500 a week respectively by Dons legend and Director of Football Willie Miller.
The Aberdeen gaffer is now hoping to sign the pair on pre-contract agreements so they would join up at Pittodrie next summer, but will face competition for the signature of MacLean from Hearts with the Scottish-born striker currently on trial at Tynecastle.
McGhee said: "I tried to get Jim Paterson and Steven McLean in the last transfer window and I will make another attempt to get them on pre-contracts.
"I have tried to get in touch with their agent. We have missed each other but I plan to talk to him over the next few days to see what we can do.
"I would like to get them both in but if that is going to happen then it probably would be for the summer.
"I don't think we could afford them and Paul Marshall, so it would be the pre-contract avenue we would be looking to go down."
