DONS striker Tommy Wright is desperate to start Saturday's crunch game with Dundee Utd at Pittodrie - to make amends for his disastrous debut.
The former Darlington man has had a difficult start to his Dons career following a series of injuries, plus a nightmare first start in September's meeting with the Dons' visitors on Saturday.
Wright inexplicably handled the ball in the box giving away the decisive penalty in that game, as United won an otherwise even encounter 1-0.
And now he is determined to repay Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood's faith in him despite that catastrophe and his subsequent injury problems.
He said: "The manager kept telling me to keep my chin up and that my chance would come.
"I haven't really shown what I am capable of yet so I feel I have to repay the manager and the coaches. Hopefully I will get the chance to do that now.
"We have a massive six-pointer against Dundee United this weekend. It was a blow to lose to Hearts last Saturday.
"We keep giving ourselves the chance to go third but we keep messing it up. We need to put that right this Saturday."
Tommy grabbed his first Dons goal in Tuesday night's 5-0 thrashing of East Fife, coolly finishing after good work from Sone Aluko.
And with Darren Mackie struggling with a hamstring injury, Wright hopes he will again be chosen to lead the line in Saturday's vital clash.
He said: "It was a weight off my shoulders to get that first goal but I think it was actually nicer just to get 90 minutes under my belt. Hopefully I can keep going from there."
