Jeff Wants To Hang About

ABERDEEN'S winger Jeffrey de Visscher is considering an extended stay at Pittodrie.

The 27-year-old had been on the fringes of the first team, and looked unlikely to stay at the club beyond next summer.

However, the Dutchman has been involved in every game in the Dons recent run of four straight victories, and has earned rave reviews for his performances.

And he revealed that a chat with boss Jimmy Calderwood helped to ease his fears about being out of the manager's first-team plans.

De Visscher said: "I am playing so I am very happy at the moment but I have to make sure I keep my place in the team now.

"If I can do that and we can keep winning then we will see what happens.

"I talked to the manager about my situation and how things were going in general but now I need to concentrate on staying in his plans.

"He is happy with me which is good but he said he can't guarantee me or anyone else a starting place in the team, which is understandable, so it's up to me.

"That's all I need to know because a few weeks ago I thought he wasn't considering me for the top team even though I worked so hard every day in training."
