ABERDEEN striker Lee Miller is reported to be the subject of a half-a-million pound bid from Gordon Strachan's Middlesbrough.
Miller, who was signed for free from Dundee United by former manager Jimmy Calderwood in 2006, has yet to sign a new deal at Pittodrie.
And with the target man able to leave on a free in the summer, Aberdeen are likely to be keen to accept a large cash offer to enable new boss Mark McGhee to rebuild in the summer.
Representatives from Middlesbrough were in attendance at Tynecastle last week as the Dons hammered Hearts 3-0.
And Sky Sports News are now reporting that the Teeside club has tabled a bid of £500,000 for Miller as the January transfer deadline approaches.
Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee told BBC Scotland: "Middlesbrough have asked about Lee Miller. They have made an approach and the clubs are talking."
And it is thought that Miller has travelled to the Riverside Stadium today for a medical.
Miller would be the second striker to leave the Dons in the space of a week following Tommy Wright's departure.
And the wages freed up could lead to a dramatic Dons deadline-day swoop for Plymouth's Steven MacLean.
