DONS defenders Charlie Mulgrew and Davide Grassi have left the club as manager Mark McGhee's rebuilding plans start to take shape.
Mulgrew had been highly reluctant to sign a new contract since it was first offered to him last year, but his move to Neil Lennon's Celtic will raise a few eyebrows at Pittodrie nonetheless.
Mulgrew was part of a shambolic Dons defence for much of last season, and some will see this move as a further sign that the Old Firm are operating at a level closer to the chasing SPL clubs.
However, Mulgrew's dead-ball prowess and crossing skills have never been in question, and he could be a danger if played further up the pitch for the Hoops.
Grassi's departure is also a surprise, as the Italian suggested last month that he had agreed to stay put with a one-year deal agreed with the Dons.
However, it turns out the formerly-masked defender-cum-midfielder will instead head back to his homeland to sign for an as-yet unknown Italian club.
Aberdeen-Mad wishes Davide all the best in his future career.
