MIDFIELDER Gary McDonald hopes his goals will persuade Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood to put him in the starting XI.
McDonald bagged another goal on Saturday making it three for the season, and has been banging them in for the Dons' reserves.
The former Oldham and Killie midfielder needs just one more goal to match Barry Nicholson's total in his first season with the Dons, despite only featuring in 13 games so far this season.
And Nicholson's replacement in the Reds' engine room has bagged as many goals this season as Barry has managed at new club Preston.
But despite scoring the vital opening goal against Well, the Aberdeen midfielder admits he is frustrated not to be on the teamsheet.
McDonald said: "It was just great to come on as I was desperate to get on and I was disappointed not to be starting the game.
"When I came on I felt as if I had a point to prove and to get a goal so early was great.
"The team was picked and I was gutted not to be in it - the manager picks the team and all you can do is do the business when you're on the pitch."
McDonald believes that winning Saturday's game was important, and feels that this could be the start of a climb up the table.
He added: "If we keep building on results at home and picking up points away from home there's only one way we can go.
"The next few games are what we see as very winnable games - obviously this league is tight and everybody can beat everybody. We will go to Rugby Park next week looking for the points down there."
