Darren: I Want Trophies

DONS striker Darren Mackie has signed a new three-year contract with the club, which will see him spend 14 years at Pittodrie.

And the forward has set himself the target of getting the cup winner's medal that he has missed out on throughout his years at Aberdeen.

Lifelong Dons fan Mackie, from Inverurie, has scored 57 goals in 272 appearances for the club after making his debut way back in 1999.

And none was more important than the Hewitt-esque diving header in Dnipro that took the Reds to the group stage of last season's UEFA Cup.

However Mackie has yet to win a medal at the club - something he aims to change in the next three years.

He said: "I have never hidden the fact I love being here so it was quite easy to get things sorted out.

"Hopefully during those three years I can have a good time and score more goals. I want to win trophies and hopefully success will be coming soon."

Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood is delighted that Darren has signed on, and yesterday he said: "It is fabulous. I have always said how well he has done during my time here.

"Darren is a wonderful lad to work with. He is Aberdeen through and through and it is great news for the club. He is very popular in the dressing room.

"No one will ever forget his goal against Dnipro which started the whole European run [last season]; the highlight of my time here."
