YOUNG Dons defender Andy Considine has been offered a new deal at Pittodrie.
The 21-year-old Scotland Under-21 cap has become a regular in the Dons top team since Russell Anderson's departure last summer.
Dons legend and Director of Football Willie Miller has moved swiftly to try and secure Considine before his contract runs out next July.
Miller has come under severe criticism from some fans regarding the timing of contract renewal talks last term, resulting in several key players leaving the club.
Miller said: "Andrew has done well in recent seasons and we're hopeful he'll accept our offer of a new contract.
"Both Andrew and Chris ['Phil "Bebo" McGuire' Maguire] are in the final year of their contracts and I would like to think both will stay and continue to make progress with us.
"We'll talk to them both next week and hope to be in a position to make a positive announcement."
Considine had many highs and lows last season - and that was just in the Scottish Cup semi - and receives the new contract offer despite news that Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood is chasing another centre-half.
Dutch defender Tim Bakens has claimed Calderwood has spoken to him about the possibility of moving to the Dons, adding that Jimmy also has his eyes on a couple of other defenders.
Bakens, 25, is available on a free transfer after turning down a new deal at RKC Waalwijk.
