ABERDEEN'S defensive worries are set to be alleviated today with the signing of Reda Johnson due to be completed before the European deadline.
And centre-back Andy Considine could be fit to face Dundee tomorrow in Aberdeen's last friendly match before their crucial Europa Cup tie against SK Sigma.
New boss Mark McGhee travelled to Paris yesterday in order to persuade Johnson to commit to the Red cause.
And it is thought that the signing will be completed before the European transfer deadline today.
Left-footed 21-year-old Johnson, who is 6'4" tall, plays for French Ligue 2 side Amiens SC.
Should the deal be completed today, Johnson will go straight into the squad for tomorrow's friendly with Dundee at Dens Park.
Also ready to take his place in the Aberdeen line-up is Andy Considine.
Considine was substituted during Wednesday's 3-2 win over Peterhead, raising fears that he could miss the Dons' upcoming games.
But McGhee said that the substitution was merely a precaution, but it emphasised the need to rush to France to seal the Johnson deal.
He said: "Andrew [Considine] had a problem with his back but he should be okay for the weekend.
"We took him off as a precaution. It did highlight the fact we don't have experienced cover in that position."
