Clark And Miller Do SFA

ABERDEEN'S Chris Clark and Lee Miller contributed little to a dour 0-0 draw between Scotland and the Republic of Ireland's B sides.

Encouragingly, Clark started the game in his familiar left midfield role, but he struggled to make an impact and came off midway through the second half.

Miller, who came on as a second half substitute, looked more lively partnering Kris Boyd up front, but overall did little to make watching Scotland manager Walter Smith sit up and take note.

The game, featuring some of Scotland and the Republic's rising young stars, was lacking any competitive spirit or drama and the result was as fair as it was predictable.

The only episode of note was a penalty claim for Scotland turned down near the end of the first half.

Clark and Miller will head back to Pittodrie unhappy that they did not make more of their opportunity, as on this showing they will struggle to displace any of Walter Smith's first-choice picks in the future.
