ABERDEEN will today confirm the signing of goalkeeper Mark Howard from St Mirren.
The 23-year-old made just two appearances for the Paisley club last season and has been in and out of the St Mirren first team over the last three years.
Dons boss Mark McGhee said: "We have signed Mark on a one-year deal. Now the challenge for Mark is to put pressure on Jamie Langfield."
However, this challenge is rarely accepted by the back-up keepers that now head through Pittodrie on an annual basis, meaning Jamie Langfield's position as number one is never pressurised.
It would perhaps be more inspiring for Dons fans, particularly those wavering over a season ticket purchase, if the Dons attempted to sign a new first-choice keeper during the summer summer after several seasons of hunting for someone who will be second-best.
