ABERDEEN boss Mark McGhee has taken the unusual step of announcing that the club has come to an agreement to sogn a player - without the finances actually being in place.
The player in question is former Charlton Athletic full-back Grant Basey, who has been on trial at Pittodrie for almost a fortnight, and he is set to become McGhee's seventh summer signing.
But despite the Wales Under-21 international and Aberdeen having an agreement in place, McGhee now has to find the finances to seal the deal.
This will involve sending players out on loan, and the gaffer hopes to have arranged these before the team head to Germany on Friday for their friendly with Kaiserslautern.
He said: “We have an agreement with Basey in place now and I’m pleased the player has been so sensible in our discussions.
“He has committed on his part and we have on ours. The challenge for me now is to find the money."
