Anderson Romps To Aberdeen-Mad Player Of The Year

Aberdeen captain Russell Anderson has won the Aberdeen-Mad Player of the Year for season 2006/06.

107 visitors to Aberdeen-Mad cast their votes, with a massive 80 of them plumping for Scotland's best defender.

Russell, pictured wearing the Dons new strip, finished 71 votes clear of second-placed Jamie Smith, with outgoing utility man Kevin McNaughton in third with 6 votes.

Anderson is currently in Japan with the Scotland squad and will hope to be named in the team to face Bulgaria at 11:15 this morning.

Last year's Aberdeen-Mad Player of the Year Scott Severin finished joint last with one vote, so it is clear the fans will be expecting more from him in the coming season.
