Aberdeen Mad has obtained pictures of the new fans banner, created by the supporters with AFC Heritage Trust - and instead of waiting until the official unveiling, we're giving you an exclusive sneak preview!
The epic banner features the timeless quote from world-famous football luminary Alfredo Di Stefano, manager of the Real Madrid team beaten by the Dons in the final of the European Cup Winners Cup in 1983.
There is no greater compliment than appreciation from one of the game's true greats, and the banner will be a constant reminder that Aberdeen have a unique place in history - and the contents of the statement are as poignant and relevant today as they have ever been.
The banner has also been signed by some famous Dons fans, club players and legends, and supporters from up and down the country.
It's difficult to estimate the actual amount of signatures on the banner but it is thought to be around 2000, including legends and former players like Fred Martin, Martin Buchan, Bobby Clark, Joey Harper (above), Willie Miller, Duncan Shearer, and Darren Young. The majority of the current squad have signed along with members of Aberdeen FC staff.
The banner was designed by Dolly Digital and is a massive 80x7ft in size, and the project was funded by AFC Heritage but paid for through donations by fans ranging from £2 to £500.
To see the banner in person and show your support for this terrific venture that has raised cash for AFC Heritage Trust plus awareness of what the supporters can do if they put their mind to it, head down to Pittodrie on January 2 before the New Year fixture against Dundee Utd.
